Season’s Greetings to you all.
I hope you all have a great Christmas and New Year. It’s a time to relax a bit and set the new goals for the up-coming season.
As you probably know, I have spent some time in China is 2009. These visits have been a really good learning curve for me. It’s been nice to experience another culture and see a new golfing force emerge. We’ll see Chinese golfers coming through the world ranks over the next decade or so.
While there, I’ve seen a couple of products that will be of great benefit to serious golfers.
An Australian group have developed a comprehensive game analysis programme (which is web based). More info on that will come in soon. I find these numbers really useful to help develop training programmes. As a coach, we don’t get to see you play and the numbers gives me a better picture of your game.
Also, we’ve seen a sensational swing analysis tool which will be very affordable to everyone. This will become a “must have” training tool in a short time. Again, more to come on that in 2010.
Some of the players I work with have achieved a number of goals in 2009.
Andrew Dodt finished 15th on the Asian tour with just a touch under $200K US.
He had a great finish at Singapore, where he was close to the lead through round 3.
He finished 3rd in the 1st stage of his US Q-School quest, but missed at the second stage.
Adam Blyth again had a solid year in Asia, finishing 19th in the money list. He made it to the final stage of the European Q-School, but couldn’t gain a full European card. He’ll have full status on the Challenge Tour (in Europe) as well as a full Asian tour card.
Chris Campbell won the Japan Challenge tour money list with 2 wins and a number of good finishes. He finished the year with Top 20 results in both the Australian Open and Australian PGA championships.
Nathan Uebergang lost his playing status in Japan for 2010, and will be playing in Australia this year to prepare for another try in 2011. He is a very talented player and we expect things to turn around soon.
Paul Donahoo made it to the final stage of Japan Q-school, but missed at that stage. He’ll play in Australia again in 2009, as will Kurt Carlson, who is due to travel to Canada in 2010 to try to qualify there.
Michael Craig will be trying for an Asian card in January.
Our own Tim Porter (VPGC) will be playing in Australia this year with a view to stepping up to a bigger tour in 2011.
We wish them all well in their endeavors and hope to see them progress to the highest level of golf in the world.
Bronwyn Mullins lost her playing status on the Ladies European Tour and has returned to Australia to recover from injuries and prepare for 2011.
Thanks for coming
See you in 2010
